Why is this test important?

It is estimated half of the world's population is infected by the stomach bacterium Helicobacter pylori

H. pylori has been known as a Class 1 Cancerogen since 1994 (World Health Organisation)

People have a 6-7 times higher risk for stomach carcinoma if H. pylori positive

No symptoms are normally present during the first years of infection of H. pylori

H. pylori causes chronic gastritis in the stomach and duopdenum, them later causing the formation of ulcers

Once diagnosed it is easily treatable with antibiotics and after positive eradication the re-infection rate is very low (only 1%)

How is this test performed?

Using the enclosed lancet, prick your finger and apply a drop of blood on the cassette strip. Wait for 30 seconds and add 7 drops of the buffer solution. A positive or negative result will appear within 10 minutes.

Using this test along with the most common stomach ulcer symptoms can help you decide whether to visit your GP for further investigation.

I found the instructions on how to operate the lancet confusing as the pictures were of a different design. Both lancets failed to work so I ended up pricking my finger myself. After that the test went as per instructions ending with a negative result. A relief in some ways

I could not get either of the prick tests to automatically release I had to force them down with something else and that the test did not show up with any results even though I followed instructions. My opinion waste of money :(
